So this week is VBS at PBC and Javik is attending the Kindergarten class! We just don't have that many pre-schoolers, so they let him move up. I was a little worried about him being a distraction for the actual kindergartners, but the teachers say he's doing great.
So each night we've been asking him what he learned about during the bible story.
We ask him this same question each week after Sunday School and his first answer is always "We learned Play-Doh" ... which is either wishful thinking on his part or Mark & Dawn have slacked off a little. (j/k I know Mark & Dawn teach an actual lesson!) LOL

So... long story short: last night we asked Javik what his bible story was about and (after he said Play-Doh) he said "Joseph."
"What about Joseph?"
"His brothers were mean to him!"
"They were? What did they do to him?"
... this is the best part... "They just slapped him in the mouth and put him in a well!!"

hahahaha. I don't remember reading that part, but I know if someone was trying to put me in a well there'd definitely be some slapping going on!
Quite intuitive... or maybe just imaginative... either way, he got the story of Joseph!

me: "I'm excited about going to that landscaping auction tomorrow."
Cole: "I may go to another auction while you're at that one."
Javik: "I'm going to a big, fat juicy auction of my own!"
LOL

Tonight Javik & I went to Subway for supper =)
When we were getting ready to order, I asked him what he wanted on his sandwich...
His reply : "I just want a subway on my sammich"
LOL
(sidenote :: we've been working on rhyming words lately )
so I said, "No, like do you want Chicken, or Turkey, or Ham..."
Javik : "or Jam, or Lamb, or Bam or Wam or Clam..."

I know right?! Practically a boy genius! =)

Today Javik came to my school picnic with my mom to have lunch with me...
I love watching him interact with my students! They're all so funny.

When he was leaving the park, followed by choruses of "Bye Javik!" I said to him, "Javik, those kids love you!"
His reply, "I know! Because I am GREAT!"

=)

He's also started telling people how long he can stay as soon as he arrives somewhere. It usually goes something like this ::
"Sorry, I can't stay here all day (or night). I have to go home in a little while."
Just in case they were thinking of asking him to move in.......

Tonight while we were putting Javik to bed (in his new twin size bed) Cole said that we should trade him our bed b/c he has a better mattress...
I said we couldn't both fit in a twin size bed...
So we tried it out (we did fit btw).

Javik came over :: "Hey, what are you guys doing in my bed? I want to lay in my bed too!"

I said "OK, dude, come on!"

Javik "Ugh, you can't just leave me out of MY bed!"

LOL

Last night, after helping us work in the yard, Javik headed in to "just rest" =) He headed in the back door and my instruction to him was this : "Go in the kitchen, take off your shoes and put them by the back door"

My oh-so-literal son did just that! Love him!

I love car chats on the way to school!
Jav sitting in the backseat... just spewing out his thoughts about life.

Yesterday, en route to Mary's, this was the convo (mostly one-sided, mind you):
"Mommy, turn on the windshield wipers. We need them because it's raining."
"OK Buddy, they're actually on, they're just on intermittently."
"Oh, they're on enter-mittens-ly?"
=)
{wiper swoosh} :: "Thank you, Mommy!"............
{wiper swoosh} :: "Thank you, Mommy!"............
{wiper swoosh} :: "Thank you, Mommy!"............

"Hey Mommy, did you know that rain mixed with dirt makes MUD... I love to play in the mud... only you shouldn't wear your tennis shoes in the mud... you know what shoes are great for the mud Mommy? Crocs are great for the mud!"

~he stops for a breath~
~I'm just listening & loving it!~

"You know Joshua & Jacob? Those boys at my church? Those big boys?"
" Uh-huh.."
"They love to play in the giant mud puddles! Those giant mud puddles at my church... They love to put sticks in them! I love to play in giant mud puddles too! Those boys are just kids, right Mommy? Like me, I am a kid. Joshua & Jacob & me are kids who love to play in the mud!"
"So you like the rain, Jav?"
"Oh, I love the rain! because God lets the rain make mud!"

Lord, please help me remember these moments as my boy grows up. Continue to put boys & men in his life who will show him what it means to be a man who loves life and who loves Jesus.
And help me remember when I'm cleaning up the mud how much my Javi loves that mud. And how that's the only thing that really matters.

"Mommy, today is Mother's Day. and you are my mother. Happy Mother's Day!"

"Mommy, we have a surprise for you! Come over here and check it out!"

after church, being pestered by a family friend Javik says "Stop it. I don't want you to touch me like that..... " then as if to console the scolded, "just not today."

sitting on my lap, sharing a sweet Mother's Day snuggle, I kissed Jav on the top of his head. his response: "Mommy, thank you for the kiss.... but that's enough."

Oh, I love this kid!

In the car, on the way home...
"Javik, do you want to have a hamburger for dinner?"
"nooooooo" (in that whiny-I-should-have-taken-a-longer-nap-today voice)
"nooooooo?"
"don't say that!"
"neeooooo...neeooow...neeooooww" I'll admit, I might have been taking it a bit too far...
but it was so worth it!
"stop saying that!!"
"Why? I'm just meowing like a cat."
"Mommy, stop meowing like a cat. People. Are NOT. Animals!"

A few Javisms off the top of my head:

he says "might be" instead of "maybe"... as in, "Don't put that glass on the edge of the table, it will might be fall off"
I love it!

He loves the movie Cars. One of Lightning McQueen's catch-phrases is "Float like a Cadillac, Sting like a Beamer!" Javism: "Fwoat wike a Cadiwac, Sting wike a Beaver!"
Too cute to correct.

April 30, 2010 when going to bed:
Me: "I love you Javik Nolan"
Jav: "Mommy, don't call me Javik Nolan!"
Me: "Why not? I gave you that name."
Jav: "Mommy, it's just creepy! Just give me Javik and call me that name!"

One morning while we were getting ready for school I made some corny joke (as usual)...
Jav's response: "Mommy, you are wicked funny!"
Apparently now he's an east-coaster!

What's a Javism?

So my son Javik is almost 3... and he says the funniest things! Some are funny just because he doesn't always hear things correctly or totally understand. Others are funny because he has an awesome sense of humor for a 2 1/2 year old. Either way, he makes us laugh every single day.

So I decided that a blog would be a great way to jot down some of the funny things he says, the "javisms" if you will, that make me smile every time I think of them.

So enjoy the Javisms...
